welcome to the family.

mitch & i made our first BIG purchase together. i know, you're thinking...ohhh they bought a house!! well, not quite that BIG of a purchase.  baby steps, people.

this was really a monumental sort of experience for me.  we had been talking about it for months. i was dragging my feet.  i guess i really liked driving around a car that was on its last leg. mitch loved the arm workout from driving a stick shift & rolling down windows manually.  these are the reasons we were in such a hurry.

so we did it. took the plunge. and bought a new car.  my first brand new car.

goodbye ford focus.

helllooo subaru.

so, we're pretty excited. we think this subaru is pretty great.  why subaru you might ask?
 1. safety first. 2.  everyone else has one. 3.  it's real cute.
*this is written by heather. mitch's opinion may differ.

no but really, we like it, lots.  maybe if you're lucky, we'll give you a ride one day.

footnotes: 1.  we are still republicans. 2.  we are still not outdoorsy.

a brief, 6 month hiatus.

so, as it would turn out...i'm really good a blogging.  or not. i think it'll chalk it up to our "long" winter or something.  or it's mitchy's fault.   i kept telling him to blog. but to no accord.

therefore, since you've heard all my excuses and it has been a good six months... i figured it was time for another post.

snow day(s)

it snowed in seattle last week.  sure, i wanted a snow day. as in a singular day. who wouldn't want a day at home? snuggled up with a fire, hot chocolate and a felicity marathon? that's what i thought. you'd all want in on that.

however, i was house-bound for 3 days. meaning i worked from home. ate from home. hung out at home. didn't leave home for what felt like forever. mitch left daily for work, so i interacted with no one. all day.

cabin fever? not at all.

the view from our living room. imagine that our window pane didn't obstruct the view.

the mitch. doing what he does.

love birds, i know.

mitch & i made a daily adventure of going to the pub that is on our block, mullaedy's. as previously mentioned, we are super outdoorsy.

view from outside our alley. yes, those are sleds/snowboards.
and this is why i didn't leave my house.

as we sat at mullaedy's... kids threw snowballs at the window. i'd like to think that mitch was their target.

snow, i hope to not see you again until 2013.  thanks.

suncadia.

to celebrate our first year anniversary, we headed east. well 1.25 hours east to suncadia lodge in Cle Elum.  a perfect weekend away.

en route to suncadia, we made a stop. thanks to jesse & summer for inviting us for a night at their cabin for great food, fun and...snowmobiling. snowmobiling? yes. i know. i'm so adventurous & outdoorsy. actually, i don't think either of those words have ever been used to describe me.  i can't really take much credit. mitch & jesse drove their own snowmobiles, while i sat behind summer as she drove. and i held on for dear life.

oh hey christmas sweater & coat & awesome view.

from jesse's cabin we made the long (10 minute) drive to the beautiful suncadia  i'm not exaggerating. it was beautiful. the lodge is surrounded by mountains and set above the pristine Cle Elum River. it was winter lodgy magic. also, interesting/true fact: the property of the suncadia resort is larger than the island of manhattan. and i did not make that up.

the lodge. a photo i did not take.

view from our room. the snow decided to show up the week after we left.

suncadia is also home to Swiftwater Cellars Winery. in true tourist style, we did a tasting & tour of  Swiftwater. which we did not regret.

our tasting. OR we drank 5 whole glasses each. you decide.

it was really the perfect winter weekend getaway and a great way to embark on our 2nd year of married life. mitch says we're making a yearly tradition of going. already looking forward to next year.

we're blogging.

mitch & i celebrated our 1st year of marriage on december 30, 2011. in reflecting on our first year of marriage, we cannot believe how fast a year has gone.  and it was a great year.   and let's be honest. i maybe took all of 4.5 pictures of our life in the last 365 days.  i want to do better. i want to remember more.

therefore, in effort to better document our journey & life together, we've decided to join the world of blogging.

our first dance. we wanted you to reflect with us. obviously.

mitch & i will both be contributing to this blog. what are we going to blog on you might ask? well. great question.

i guess we'll find out.
